LATEST NEWS, MUSIC AND EVENTS

Welcome! This is the best place to hear all my music in one place so please keep checking in, and you can top yourself up with new shows, releases and mixes while you’re here! You can navigate this website for all the different types of music, shows and releases as well as using the LIVE page for all gig news and ticket links.

Summer 24 was a busy one with 2 trips to Ibiza, festivals, gigs, new releases and remixes plus more radio shows! After having a great week on the White Isle with the Mixmasters Production team (including David Morales and Marshall Jefferson) I was back on the decks at Pikes and WoM in July and then back to Beatherder the week after! Some top events coming up too, all info available on the LIVE tab.

My ‘Lazy Sundays shows still features regularly in the Global top ten for Chill-out, Balearic and Downtempo charts, you can listen via the amazing Music For Dreams or check the ‘CHILL’ tab on this website for all shows to date. Sadly I don’t have time for everything now so my shows on Brooklyn’s ‘Face Radio’ have paused for now and my Cowbell shows are slightly less regular for now, as the gigs and production work increases.

Production-wise things are getting busy, with more releases on Sprechen and Freebooter Lounge and 4 forthcoming releases on Tangential. The first is out on November 29th and you can save it by using this link! Still buzzing to see more new releases being played at ace locations, below is a clip from Café Del Mar resident Samantha Bagg playing my remix of Go Satta at sunset! More releases and remixes can be found on the MUSIC tab, following up on a new EP of my own material (one of the tracks was featured by Sam on BBC Radio 1 recently, check the mix here)!

I’ve been adding a few new strings to my bow in the studio so as well as writing, producing and remixing I am now providing piano / keyboards and mastering, so get in touch if you need any of those…please use the CONTACT page for direct messaging and also an updated list of all my webpage links in one place for easy access.

Finally, if you subscribe (scroll to the bottom of this page and add your email) you’ll get the odd email from me with loads of new and FREE music as well as the odd update. I hope you enjoy and I really can’t wait to see you again soon, hopefully in a field, club, bar, beach or anywhere else with good music and ace people! x

Cafe Del Mar, big thanks to Samantha Bagg for playing my remix during a sunset…

Go Satta ‘Leaving Town Was Wise (Ed Mahon remix) on Emerald and Doreen records

Ed Mahon, Producer on SoundBetter

If you need any help with mastering, remixing, writing, engineering, DJ work or keyboards then you can find me here, feel free to share!

I was delighted and honoured to be on guest mix duties for the legendary Bill Brewster, you can hear my mix around the 2 hour mark here

helping to rAISE FUNDS FOR good causes…

I’ve loved getting involved in supporting some very worthy causes recently. As well as regular DJ sets in support of Shelter, Foodbanks and the NHS I’ve provided a few tunes/remixes for charitable releases too. Below you’ll find a couple, for more go to the MUSIC tab.

Here is my Steady State remix for the 'Beats for Beds' fundraiser for Shelter. Link to the full 22-track charity LP is on the 'Music' tab

A very talented friend of mine spoke out recently about inequality and the North/South divide. It inspired me to put some music to the words and we both agreed this would be a good opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a good cause. Please click on this link to listen/buy/share, all funds will go to Fareshare UK x

Here's the recording of my live-stream set complete with Donate Link for the NHS...enjoy!

In other news here is the link for Love in All Colours, released over lockdown, check the clip below to see who has been supporting it!

Anymorecame out on on Higher Love Recordings as part of the ‘Es Codolar EP’. This is the first track I made entirely on my own, big love to the Balearic Ultras for asking me to be involved in such a cool EP! Check the video below, I love it and I think it matches the label description well: ‘It’s a lights off dark sullen broody electro percussive chugger that deserves to be played loud in clubs’

A Brighter Day (Ed’s piano reprise) is my debut on one of my favourite labels, Sprechen! This is my own chilled version of my first release ‘A Brighter Day’, blissed out Summer beats with a positive vibe for these times, showcasing the amazing piano skills of Davos (K Klass). This is part of a wicked compilation “Edgy x Future x Discotheque Vol.2” sounds for all parts of the dancefloors curated by the main man Chris Massey, the hardest working man in the Mancunian music world!

This track has also been played during sunsets at Cafe Del Mar, check the recording here from the lovely Samantha Bagg, last tune too!

As promised here is a little snippet of Hacienda legend Graeme Park playing “Lovin’ You” on a lockdown live stream!

Here is a guest mix I did for my friends at the excellent Back to the Beach mix series. Asked to include a selection of songs that have inspired me I got all excited and even remixed one of my own tunes just for this mix! I was true to my word and have included influences such as Gil Scott-Heron, The Fall, A Man Called Adam, A Tribe Called Quest, The Carpenters, Ennio Morricone, Sade, Rich Lane and more!

Celebrating Stevie Wonder…why not!

During lockdown my all-time hero, Stevie Wonder turned 70. I thought I’d do a show to celebrate his music, achievements and legacy but it soon took on a life of its own! With 6 decades, thousands of songs and countless stories and facts it ended up taking months to compile (and condense)! The end product is 2 podcasts, totalling 7 hours and nearly 100 tracks, still not scratching the surface but hopefully going some way to celebrate this most amazing human being!

The man himself said we often leave it too late to celebrate our musical heroes (after recording Sir Duke) and anyone who has heard one of my Breakfast shows knows that I don’t need a second invitation to wax lyrical about Stevie’s music and achievements!

So you can download the podcasts here, part 1 covers 1962-72 and part 2 covers 1972 to present day. They are also available on Mixcloud, with full track-listing. I truly hope you enjoy these and I hope you hear (and learn) something new along the way x

Alfresco, ibiza, tenerife and marseille! Another ace year of music!

2019 was great fun! Below are some highlights from an unforgettable few days at Pikes, our biggest Alfresco Festival yet, Tenerife and finally a clip of me playing my Field of Dreams remix at La Dame Noir in Marseille, such great fun!

Alfresco was yet another amazing weekend courtesy of my partner in music Chinny (and the rest of the Alfresco family)! I was priviliged to play the first and last tunes of the weekend in the big tent, sharing the decks with legends along the way Pete Callard, Al MacKenzie (never easy following 2ManyDJs who rocked it) and Chinny himself! Highlights for me (as well as the above) were Erol Alkan, Tronik Youth, Zombies in Miami, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Man Power, John Tree and the always-cool VoxLow. I didn’t get a chance to see everyone as due to grafting but glad I caught them at least! My phone tells me I walked/danced for 32 miles in 3 days, I’d do it all again in a heartbeat x
